How do I enter vessel positions from an Incoming Message?

To enter vessel positions from an incoming message:
- To enter a ship's position from the Incoming Message module you must make
sure the box marked positions located at the top of the Incoming Message
screen is checked.
- To check the positions box just click in it with your left mouse
button.
- Highlight the the ship's name.
- To highlight the ship's name click the left mouse button and sweep over
it until the ship's name turns blue.
- Do not highlight 'M/V' which often precedes a ship's name.
- If the ship you are updating a ship that is not in your data base a dialog
box will pop up asking Add New Ship?
- Click the Yes button.
- A dialog box will pop up asking: Please Enter Code.
- Enter a Mnemonic for the ship and click the OK button.
- You will be placed in the Ship Maintenance Module where you can
enter the ship's specifications.
- Enter the vessel specifications and click the Save Changes button.
- Go back to the Incoming Message and you will see the ship's position has
bee updated.
- If the ship is already in your ship data base:
- Follow steps 1-4 as outlined above.
- A dialog box will pop up showing the ship's name, deadweight, port, zone,
laydays, broker and date this information was last updated.
- When updating a ship's position for the first time you must always choose
to Replace broker 1.
- If you are not updating the ship's position for the first time you can
keep or replace the existing brokers.
- The laycan (open/close) dates are preset to a 10 days spread.
- To change the spread of the laycan click on the pull down arrows
located beside the open/close dates.
- The zone can also be changed by clicking the pull down arrows
located beside the zones.
